John Fu!

Tell your life story in 3 sentences.
I spent the first 17 3/4 years of my life living in the same house in Torrance, a suburb of Los Angeles, and 13 of those years attending Chadwick School, a beautiful hilltop private school. I read a lot, sang a lot, played piano and tennis (neither particularly well), did a gazillion activities, and spent time with my family. I had fun making stuff as a product design major at Stanford, and now am continuing my techy/fuzzy ways doing product marketing ways at Google.

How did you get involved in dance?
In high school, I did musicals and a community service singing group -- both of which involved some choreographed dancing. My sister (who went to Stanford before I did) learned social dance at Stanford and got me interested in taking it when I was a freshman. I was swing crazy as a frosh and have been interested in dance ever since.

What do you do besides dancing?
I love to sing. I love to eat. I love to sleep. I love to hang out with my friends and family.

What are your life goals?
Be happy, and make a lot of other people happy, too.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
Instantly compress or expand time, so I could give myself more time when I need it and less when I want time to pass more quickly.
